Underwater robot exploring a shipwreck

About WeDiscIt

Explore what's hidden underwater

Most of our planet is covered by water, yet the underwater world remains difficult to explore.

WeDiscIt is building an accessible underwater exploration ecosystem that brings together underwater robots, a digital platform, experts, and a community of explorers.

Our goal is simple

Make underwater exploration easier, more affordable, and more open to everyone.

More than an underwater robot

The robot is only the beginning.

The WeDiscIt Explorer Robot lets people explore underwater areas from the surface, capture photos and videos, and document what they discover.

With the WeDiscIt Explorer Platform, users can:

  • ✦Share underwater photos and videos
  • ✦Document expeditions and discoveries
  • ✦Create and explore 3D visualisations
  • ✦Follow other explorers
  • ✦Discuss possible findings
  • ✦Receive feedback from experts
  • ✦Build a personal history of explorations

Over time, these contributions can become a growing knowledge base of underwater environments and cultural heritage.

Better technology

AI can help organise and analyse the collected information, while future versions of our robots can use this knowledge to better understand underwater environments.

Our long-term vision: move from remotely controlled exploration toward robots capable of handling more of the mission themselves.

Built through research

It started as an underwater museum.

Our research into underwater archaeology, robotics, 3D documentation, citizen science and existing exploration technologies changed that idea.

The bigger opportunity is not simply to show people what is underwater — but to help more people discover, document and understand it.

Real evidence first

Photographs, videos and 3D models should reflect what was actually observed. AI-generated or reconstructed information must always be clearly distinguished from real evidence.

Who is it for?
